Happy Halloween!

Soren made it through his first year of walking door to door and trick-or-treating.  I thought we wouldn't be able to catch up to him, but he actually was the slowest kid of the group!  He was distracted by so many things, lawn decorations, pumpkins, other kids and dogs inside the house.  Also people couldn't  put candy in his bucket, Soren had to take it from them personally and put the candy in.  And never ask Soren to choose a piece of candy from your bowl, you'll be standing there all night while he takes one piece, puts it back, then takes another and then stands there and talks to you or tries to get in your house!

We are lucky Brandon and Rachael have flight benefits are were able to fly in just for Halloween.   Brandon's costume was a big hit with all kids, especially Soren who thought Brandon was a big stuffed animal.

Also you probably noticed our pumpkin was impossible to carve with anything but a saw and with only twenty minutes Todd busted out the drill.  If you look closely you can see the drill holes.  Todd was saying something about a fungus that hardened the pumpkin, but I was trying to keep my distance from him because I picked out this pumpkin!  Oh well I bought it for the stem anyways.
We went to the same epic neighborhood as last time and invited all our friends to join us.  The evening started off really slow and I think they might have been disappointed, but as soon as they left things really picked up and it was just like we remembered it.

 And we're off!
The very first house we went to Soren put his candy in Jackson's bucket.
Getting a ride because he's so distracted.
 Distracted
Did I mention that Rachael made these costumes?
Putting candy in his own bucket.
The lion and tinman were replaced this year by a cave woman and dinosaur.
Waiting our turn to see the trains.
Soren had to grab his cracker jacks from one of the moving cabooses.

Talking to an old lady after getting his candy.
Soren's bucket was getting heavy towards the end, but he refused to let it go.
 Dragging his bucket
These woman loved, loved, loved Soren and openly admitted giving him extra candy because he was so cute and, "he has the most precious hair."  You're welcome Soren.
Both Jackson and Soren were mesmerized by this tiny flame.
Soren was able to pick out a piece of candy to eat before bed and of course he picks out something that will take the longest and cover him in sticky drool.
 Watching Hocus Pocus.

The guys chowing down on candy.
This Halloween was so much fun, especially since Brandon and Rachael were able to join us.  Talking with everyone on the way home last night about next year's costumes I think we might be going with a viking theme. Todd will definitely participate and fulfill his life long dream of being a viking!
